ANNUAL HIGH TEA

The Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, hosts an annual high tea in the spring, near Mother's Day, to honor all the wonderful mothers, daughters, aunts, and friends in our lives.

 

MEMORIAL DAY

Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, Daughters participate in the Veterans Memorial Day service at the Simi Pioneer Cemetery and various activities throughout Simi Valley to honor those heroes who have served our country with honor and distinction.

 

FLAG DAY

Chapter members attend various local patriotic celebrations.

 

FOURTH OF JULY

Chapter members attend various local patriotic celebrations.

 

NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE

Our chapter chooses a local project to do together, and some Daughters do additional projects.

 

CONSTITUTION WEEK

The chapter celebrates the U.S. Constitution by obtaining proclamations and letters of support from various elected officials. Constitution Week posters are distributed and posted in our community at libraries, schools, and local businesses.

 

DAR SERVICE FOR VETERANS

Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, Daughters regularly volunteer for our troops by stuffing envelopes, assembling care packages, and signing cards for troops currently deployed.

Our chapter quilting Daughters hand make a quilt every year for Quilts of Valor and present it to a local veteran as a token of thanks and respect for their service. 

A Quilt of Valor® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a service member or veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”

Chapter volunteers make decorated bags for veterans in hospice, providing them with personal care items.

 

VETERANS DAY COMMUNITY EVENT

Many of our chapter members attend the large Veterans Day event in Simi Valley. Our chapter sponsors a table at the event, where we honor those who served and are serving.

 

DAY OF THE DEAD COMMUNITY EVENT

Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, Daughters build an altar to honor our Patriot ancestors.

 

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

Chapter members and community individuals and groups sponsor wreaths for the December Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the Simi Pioneer Cemetery. Alongside local veterans' organizations, Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, Daughters participate in the annual ceremony as well as place wreaths on the resting places of veterans at the cemetery.

SVCC VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The Simi Valley Community Council event honoring special volunteers from nonprofit
organizations all over Simi Valley with a certificate of appreciation presented by dignitaries at this event. Rancho Simi Chapter, NSDAR, has chosen a volunteer of the year since 2018.
